People belonging to alternative sexuality have often been suppressed all over the world, but not in Romania, which explicitly calls forward people with homosexual tendencies to come forth and celebrate together.
Romania is home to a large number of gay men who have no qualms in accepting their gay status. These individuals do not consider it as a thing to be ashamed of. Rather they openly accept their status and embrace their sexuality in the public. Gay Fest 2008 which is held in Bucharest, Romania was first started in the year 2004 and has been receiving a lot of fame and attention from all over the world ever since.
This Gay fest includes a gay pride parade in which a large number of gay couples participate and was attended by a little more than 500 gay couples. It is also famous for organizing beauty pageants, such as Miss Travesti which is a sort of beauty competition among the gay men who compete to win the title of most desired, beautiful and smart contender.
As compared to the reactions which Gay Fest first received in the year when it was held, the reactions of other people have improved considerably over the years with some of the biggest newspapers reporting favorably about the various events which took place at Gay Romania and covering the entire event thus, making this fest an event of national importance.
In fact, a large number of people in Romania have opened up to the idea of gay parades and accept it as a normal event, which has every right to take place in a democratic country like Romania where people are allowed to practice their freedom of choice.
